Yes folks, it’s been a few years in the making but we are putting a lobbying trip together to visit Washington D.C.
It’s still in the early stages but here’s the vital information:
The State will pay all transportation, hotel and per diem. Any CDL’s not retired will have to put in for annual leave to cover those three days.
If you are not able to attend you must contact Al at 727-809-1776 as soon as possible because the number of rooms needed must be confirmed soon.
We will be arriving in D.C. March 22, leaving the evening of the 24th. You will make your own flight arrangements Southwest airlines offers the most direct flights to Washington Reagan International. This cost will be reimbursed.
We will be staying at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capital Hill located at 400 New Jersey Ave. This Hotel is within walking distance of NALC Head Quarters and the Capital. The discounted rate is $239.00 plus tax per night double occupancy. The Hotel will be paid for by the State. Per Diem will be reimbursed only for food with itemized receipts for meals according to bylaws Article 10 Section 2of the FSALC that went into effect 8/17/2015
I’m asking all CDL’s to call your Representative in Washington ask for the Scheduler to set a meeting on Wednesday the 23 or early on Thursday morning before we leave for the airport that day. I need everyone to call me with if you can go or not, the sooner the better. This being an election year it is important for everyone in Congress to hear about our Postal issues.
Check back frequently as more information will be added as it becomes available.
